Estate Planning for Pets

Why Pets as Beneficiaries?

  • They won’t be dismayed with the amount you leave them and won’t try to petition the courts for a bigger share.

  • They won’t be upset if you leave your children, or other family members, more money than you’ve left them.

  • They won’t have a “hissy fit” if you left your coins, collectibles or jewelry to other beneficiaries.

  • They won’t claim that you’ve practiced “favoritism” by naming a certain person as Executor instead of another.

  • They do not have “significant others” who can micro-manage, behind the scenes, to turn one family member against the other.

  • They won’t be upset if in your Will you forgave various debts of certain children and not others.

  • They won’t constantly badger the Executor with questions like:

“What’s taking so long for me to receive inheritance?”
